Sport

YMCA or Mexican waves, made this a once in a lifetime opportunity and was truly brilliant. T e 46 minutes of super Saturday were a

particular highlight for me. Standing in the media centre in the Olympic Stadium, witnessing true sporting brilliance as Jess Ennis, Mo Farah and Greg Rutherford provided a British gold rush one after the other was just extraordinary. Night after night, commentating and witnessing true ‘I was there’ moments, was a privilege. Sporting achievements were achieved, that surely even surpassed the most optimistic of predictors. T e emotional roller coaster that we all rode was something I have never experienced. Hysteria, euphoria, pure joy and disbelief would very quickly be replaced by sadness or disappointment, only to be fl ipped around once again just moments later in a turbulence of feelings. I have many special moments – in fact

hundreds – each venue was special in its own right. T e Aquatics Centre with its echoing crowd, smell of chlorine and bright glaring lights allowed me the privilege of commentating

on the greatest Olympian of all time in the form of Michael Phelps, as well as witnessing the heart warming parental pride of Chad Le Clos’ father, as he became an internet sensation following an interview with Clare Balding. T is venue also gave me some awe-inspiring moments during the Paralympics, witnessing Ellie Simmonds add more medals to her impressive CV – one of so many paralympians who displayed why they really are super human. In terms of PR, me and the team had

everything thrown at us – the longest days you could imagine, the most press you could possibly have together and also the odd crisis to manage – including those well publicised Pistorius comments...but we did it and we did it well. As the autumn approaches, and we all

look to life after London 2012, we all have to remember the summer in which Britain truly lit up the world.

In a summer that will stay with me for the

rest of my life, I did the mobot with Mo, the bolt with Bolt, had latte’s with Lochte and partied with Pistorius.... Here’s to Rio!
