ST. PETERSBURG/CLEARWATER AND ORLANDO
Resort and Walt Disney World Resort centred around an easy-to-use planning tool, which is currently being developed and will demonstrate the ease of booking and planning a first-time holiday to Orlando. The campaign will feature British Airways, Cosmos Holidays, Thomson Holidays, Thomas Cook Holidays and Virgin Holidays. It is also taking 50 travel agents and tour operators on its 2012 Orlando Super Fam (September 28-October 5), in conjunction with SeaWorld, Universal Orlando and Walt Disney World. Visit Orlando is also continuing to run its Orlando Holiday Challenge online agent education programme through Travel Uni (www.
orlandoholidaychallenge.co.uk). Agents completing the six modules become Orlando Holiday Specialists and are then eligible to take part in the Orlando Superfam. Meanwhile, Orlando International Airport, as one of the designated model ports in the US, has introduced a new international ambassador programme aimed at helping passengers enjoy a smoother entry process.

Tourism Talk
VENESSA ALEXANDER UK Director, Visit St. Petersburg/Clearwater “Bookings from UK
travellers have been strong so far this year. Much of our marketing efforts are targeted towards promoting St. Petersburg/Clearwater as a great twin- centre destination with Orlando; we are very popular with families who are looking for some beach action after enjoying the sights of Orlando. "The fact we are only 90 minutes
from Orlando, the almost guaranteed sunshine, the award-winning beaches and the huge range of things to do makes the area very popular with UK families. With British Airways flying to both Orlando and Tampa, visitors can fly in to Orlando and out of Tampa, which really fits the twin-centre model.”
DANIELLE COURTENAY Chief Marketing Officer Visit Orlando “Direct arrivals from the
UK to Orlando International Airport were down 5.1% through June; however, this only reflects direct passengers and doesn’t capture passengers that connect through Atlanta, Newark, or other hubs. “Therefore this is only a partial indicator of UK visitors. Most of the dip
is attributed to economic conditions, with the Queen’s Jubilee and the Olympics playing secondary roles. Given these factors, our forecast of travel to Orlando is predicting a rebound in UK visitors starting in 2013 (+4.6%).”
