Thani has opened its first Maldives property on Mudhdoo Island. The 100-room resort, which combines Thai hospitality and barefoot luxury, is surrounded by the living house reef of a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve where guests can see rare sea turtles, manta rays and whale sharks. Another of the newest resorts in the Maldives is The Residence with 94 villas (44 with their own swimming pools) on Falhumaafushi, a pristine island on the Gaafu Alifu atoll. The island lies 242 miles south of Malé Airport and is reached via air (a 55-minute flight) and seven-minute speed-boat transfer. Until October 31, The Residence is
offering a complimentary stay for a partner including return transfers and half board for a minimum four-night stay. Set along six km of private beach, the all-villa One&Only Reethi Rah in the Maldives has introduced new culinary courses, additional dining

revolutionary spa experiences. The five-star boutique resort Beach House at Iruveli Maldives opened in July, a 69-minute luxury seaplane transfer from Malé. It will be joined in early 2013 by a second resort opening in the Eastern Province of Sri Lanka. Accommodation is in 83 thatched
villas, suites and pavilions, located on the beach or over the turquoise lagoon, each with a private pool and a villa host. Huvafen Fushi has reopened after a 10-week renovation that saw a general refurbishment of all bungalows and pavilions, as too has Angsana Ihuru with a refreshed look for its 45 beachfront villas. As part of its refurbishment, the resort also boasts a new dive centre with enhanced facilities and is the first to offer SNUBA in the Maldives, which enables snorkelling up to six metres below the surface.
