news to use TOP STORIES Grayston joins Sun International

BY STEVE HARTRIDGE Sun International will unveil its latest South African hotel, The Grayston in Sandton, this December. The four-star deluxe hotel, an iconic

Johannesburg landmark previously managed by Southern Sun, will enjoy a ‘soft opening’ followed by a full opening in January next year after a full £20-million refurbishment. The 276-room hotel, which is set in large landscaped gardens which surround the hotel, will provide a convenient stop- over option for both leisure and business inbound visitors arriving from abroad, said newly appointed General Manager, Johan Scheppers. “We will theme the property as a modern, sophisticated hotel that offers a cool and relaxed urban escape that is

geared to meet the needs of our international guests,” he said. Key facilities will include a 24-hour ‘urban bistro’ and an Africology spa specialising in African treatments. The hotel will also feature a ‘transit lounge’, with drinks and snacks, for early arrivals – most direct UK flights to South

Africa arrive in the early morning – or those with an evening departure from South Africa. The Grayston will offer a free shuttle

service to the Sandton Gautrain, which links to OR Tambo International Airport in just 12 minutes. www.suninternational.com

2012 contained some errors. Please note that the capital of Hong Kong is Hong Kong (not Victoria). Plus, three languages are widely spoken in the country: English, Cantonese and Mandarin. Finally, Hong Kong’s reversion to Chinese sovereignty was in 1997 not 1999. Apologies for the mistakes.
