installationnews Tannoy holds court in Germany

GERMANY By Erica Basnicki

LEIPZIG’S Bundesverwaltungsgericht – or Federal Administrative Court – is one of Germany’s six federal courts and former house of the Reichsgericht (High Court of the German Empire). After the end of World War II, the High Court was moved to West Germany.

During the years of the socialist regime, the courthouse accommodated various non- judicial institutions, two museums and a dubbing studio. Ongoing renovations have

taken place since German reunification, including the installation of new Tannoy QFlex digital beam-steering array loudspeakers in the buildings’ Great Courtroom. The Great Courtroom

The grand Great Courtroom now includes Tannoy QFlex speakers

features stained glass windows, gilt carvings and a carved ceiling. AV specialists Studio Elektro Akustik (SEA) was faced with the challenge of finding a system that would provide the required levels of intelligibility in such a highly reverberant space, without interfering with the restored historical aesthetic. “Intelligibility had to be

guaranteed, and I knew that the Tannoy QFlex product would

produce the results the client wanted,” said project engineer Andre Scholze. “In the end it was a pair of QFlex 32s that were the perfect solution for the Bundesverwaltungsgericht. Using Crestron control, the QFlex were relatively easy to install and set up, and because of the column design, were virtually invisible when compared with a conventional distributed loudspeaker set up.”n www.tannoy.com

ICELAND

ICELANDIC football club Stjarnan FC, which plays in the KSI Premier League, has installed a D.A.S. Audio professional sound system. The stadium had used

portable PA systems for announcements until Garòabær- based Northern Lights Audio was contracted to design and install a new permanent setup. Four D.A.S. Audio DR-12 2-

way, full-range loudspeakers were installed in the stadium’s rafters, while two BiDriver Plus systems have been deployed in the parking area and staging- concessions area.

In the announcers area, a

D.A.S. DSP-26 stereo/mono processor handles loudspeaker management duties, and PS- 1400 stereo power amplifiers drive the speakers. Also in this area are inputs for a beyerdynamic wireless mic plus one for a local microphone. “The setup was installed in

May and already there are plans to expand the system,” says Thorsteinn Halldórsson, owner of Northern Lights Audio. “Shortly, we will be adding two additional BiDriver Plus systems for the field and the back area.”n www.dasaudio.com
