A DiGiCoSD8 was used to mix a series of online ‘unplugged’ concerts in Turkey, earlier this year. The concerts were performed by five of Turkey’s brightest up-and- coming bands, chosen to target an audience of young internet users. They were mixed by Cagan Tunali who opted for the DiGiCo SD8 (with RME interface for the recording) because it effectively satisfied both his and the project’s requirements. www.digico.org

CANADA Kid Koala spaces out with iLive By Erica Basnicki

Kid Koala used a compact Allen & Heath iLive system to perform a live rendition of his latest album, Space Cadet. At the show, each audience member had their own set of Sennheiser headphones installed in individual inflatable ‘space pods’. The show used an iDR-16 MixRack and an xDR- 16 expander unit to cater for the large number of mixes required. “The show format requires a 32-channel mixer, which ordinarily would take close to four hours to set up venue to venue. However, with this Allen & Heath iLive system, we are essentially bringing our own console everywhere we go and it fits into two three-rack space

bags,” commented tour manager, Ryhna Thompson. “Our system has enough outputs to feed the headphone transmitters, our surround ambient speakers and the subwoofers. Also, with the iLive Mixpad app, an iPad and WiFi router, we can check

Kid Koala’sSpace Cadet headphone concerts took place at venues such as planetariums, biospheres and space museums. Far out

and adjust the mix from anywhere in the room in real time,” she added. n www.allen-heath.com
