What is it? A new 10DC Compressor/ Limiter, a complement to the company’s line of Class A series outboard gear.

Details: Fully Class A, the 10DC features a transformer coupled, all-discrete circuitry that is sonically familiar to the BAE Class A line of gear, ideal for achieving the classic analogue sound in digital recording. Gold-plated stepped Elma rotary switches for every control, a reverse UK-style analogue meter, and the trademark Marconi knobs facilitate ease of use and repeatability. Independent circuitry for compressor and limiter allows use of one or both for greater control. Also featured is a true bypass and the units are stereo linkable as two single-channel units. The new BAE 10DC is housed in a steel chassis using the same

remote supply as other BAE units. It is hand-built, including the circuit board that uses no computer surface- mount components.

Unlike comparable vintage or new copies with Class AB amps, the 10DC features a purely discrete Class A amplifier, yielding desirable sonic colouration. Whereas vintage designs were primarily built for analogue tape machines with +4 to +8dBu range,

DIGITOOL MX16, MX32 AND LIVE

What is it? A range of digital audio processors offering NWare algorithms to the mid-market contractor for live sound reinforcement applications.

Details: The three Digitool models provide standalone or external GUI- based audio control in a choice of I/O formats, sharing a common platform with the Peavey MediaMatrix NION processor and providing ample headroom for running NWare algorithms. The Digitool MX16 and MX32 feature eight inputs/eight outputs and 16 inputs/16 outputs respectively, while the Digitool LIVE offers eight balanced XLR inputs and outputs for live-sound FOH applications. The new processors

incorporate full-colour LCD displays, enhanced front-panel navigation, individual input and output mutes, plus five-segment LED arrays for input and output signal monitoring. The entire system may be configured and controlled via a dedicated NWare-based GUI running on an external PC. All three Digitool models include a front-panel USB port that makes interfacing with a PC for software updates quick and easy.

And another thing: All models include a 100-240V power supply. www.peavey.com

the new 10DC provides greater headroom and increased gain to accommodate high dBu levels, typically in the +15dBu range.

And another thing: The 10DC features a variable attack time. Fast attack times can vary from 2-4 milliseconds, but can be slowed down to 80 milliseconds. www.baeaudio.com
