EDITSHARE IS demoing Lightworks version 11 running on the Linux platform. Version 11 of its nonlinear editing system is currently available on Windows, and the company views the forthcoming Linux release as an important additional development. “There are no other professional editing systems on Linux,” EditShare’s Matt Sandford, Lightworks product manager, said, adding that many post production and visual effects companies “are working in Linux environments, but what is missing from the workflow is a professional nonlinear editor.” Key features of version 11 include native AVCHD playback; a native realtime titling tool; and a new codec engine allowing import and export of more formats including XDCAM, XDCAM HD, DNxHD and ProRes.
