The role Working with a high level of autonomy, you’ll lead the management of existing train performance regimes and the development of a new regime for Crossrail. This includes developing performance targets, reports and monitoring systems. You will also lead the development of a new performance modelling and simulation team. You will use tools such as RailSys and TRAIL to examine the impact of performance as a result of timetable or infrastructure change. We’ll also look to you to provide expert advice on all performance issues, determine the negotiating framework for compensation payments and identify best practice.


What you’ll need To be up to the challenge, you’ll need to have proved you can open a new passenger railway and manage a train operator performance regime. Previous experience of working in an operations team will be essential. Your exceptional communication, planning and lateral thinking skills are supported by a good knowledge of the contractual arrangements relating to train performance and the use of simulation tools to determine the impact on train performance, timetables and infrastructure changes.

Fleet Engineer Swindon

A highly motivated and committed Fleet Engineer is required to lead activities for the HST, Class 180, Night Riviera and shunting locomotive fleets. The role will manage the technical engineering safety requirements of the Safety Management System as well as performance management to ensure that engineering business plans are met.


The successful applicant will have a proven T&RS engineering management background and preferably be a Chartered Engineer or possessing qualifications leading to chartered status. In addition the role demands a self-directed person with strong interpersonal skills and proven ability in data gathering and root cause analysis of failure and defect modes.


Standards & Schedules Engineer Swindon


Circa £50,000


Maintaining and developing engineering standards, methods of work and audit are integral to maintaining high levels of Traction and Rolling Stock (T&RS) safety and performance. Joining us, you’ll work directly for the Head of Engineering, to ensure we meet our legislative and mandatory industry engineering standards. This will include providing expert advice company- wide, ensuring compliance to standards for vehicle maintenance plans, monitoring supplier and technical audit plans and maintaining the Engineering risk models. You’ll also act as our representative with other rail industry groups.


Preferably a Chartered Engineer with demonstrable experience in T&RS engineering management, you’ll have an up-to-date knowledge of maintenance regimes and T&RS systems, as well as an understanding of legislation, standards and approvals. Just as importantly, you must be a highly-motivated people person with the ability to lead others and influence decision making.
