Resin specialist takes the floor T
he strict hygiene requirements of the ingredients weighing area at its plant required a seamless, chemical resistant, dust-free and easy-to-clean floor finish. Also vitally important was the need for the floor to be electro-static dissipating; able to eliminate the static charge caused by the potentially explosive fine powder ingredients. The flooring system rec- ommended was John Lord’s own Epigard SL AntiStatic; incorporating copper tape.
As with many projects in opera- tional manufacturing plants, the installation programme needed metic- ulous planning to ensure adherence to a tight schedule, to minimise dust, dis- ruption to the plant and full compli- ance with health and safety rules; all part of everyday requirements for the John Lord teams. A John Lord team of four fully trained and skilled employ- ees, together with a John Lord project manager set about the seven day task which included: • Work to ensure the substrate was free from dust and grinding of the surface to create a uniform profile to ensure the resin would fully bond to the sub- strate.

• A coat of Epigard FastTrac isolation primer was applied.
• A matrix of self-adhesive copper conductor strips was laid and con- nected to a suitable earthing point by qualified electricians. A conductive primer bond coat was then applied. • The mixed Epigard SL AntiStatic was poured onto the primed substrate and hand floated.
The completed Epigard SL AntiStatic resin floor was left to cure. This floor system can go into light ser- vice after 48 hours and full chemical cure occurs in seven days.

Cleantrak is a real time cleaning management software application that monitors routine cleaning and facilities management operations to ensure they are completed properly throughout the day by capturing data for reporting. The solution, which works using Wi-Fi or GPRS on any rugged mobile terminal, helps maintenance and cleaning staff record when facilities have been checked and cleaned, providing evidence in the event of a legal dispute. It eliminates the need for manual, paper based reporting, contributing towards reducing paper consumption. Cleantrak consists of two parts - firstly a mobile device captures data in the workplace; and secondly, a web-based management console allows the user to set up locations, devices, access rights and data reporting.
