High efficiency washers on show Bulk bag delivery systems on display At this year’s PPMA Show, IWM is focus-
ing not only on the efficiency and low lifetime cost of its industrial washing and sanitisation systems, but also on their environmental credentials. The new entry-level SAN100e sanitis- ing unit on display has been developed to offer dependable and effective saniti- sation at an attractive price and is suit- able for sanitising produce in buckets, bags, tins and trays. The latest Edi13 ALTA twin tier utensil and weigh pan washer, the first machine of its type to appear on the government’s water technology list will be on display. Also on show is the award winning Crusader T400 Twin Tank tray washer,
which offers a three stage cleaning process. The first provides a hot water and detergent wash process, the second a hot water, high temperature rinse and a final third stage fresh water rinse to which sanitiser can be added if required. Engineers from the IWM applications team will ben on hand to discuss and advise visitors on their requirements. IWM (Stand B20) T: 0121 4599511

Flexicon will introduce a number of bulk-bag delivery systems including a combination Bulk Bag Filler with Pallet Dispenser and Powered Roller Conveyor for safe high capacity, simultaneous filling of two bulk bags at the PPMA show.
There will also be an opportu- nity to see the latest pneumatic gain-in-weight filling system designed to automate delivery of free-flowing bulk solids from down-stream silos or processing lines to individual bulk bags. Also featured will be alternate types of high-speed conveying technologies including its flexible screw and pneumatic conveyors.
New long-reach robot launches at PPMA show New vertical
tray erector A new generation of tray erector will be launched this year by end-of-line machinery specialists Endoline. Driven by the increasing demand for end-of-line machines built to a smaller footprint the new Endoline 511 Tray Erector is up to 30 per cent more compact than the com- pany’s current tray erector – with an out- put speed of up to 1,800 trays per hour. To meet the growing footprint con- straints faced by manufacturers Endoline has engineered the new Tray Erector into a vertical format, which allows for the simple loading of an extended hopper. Ideally suited to retail ready packaging applications the Endoline 511 Tray Erector can be inte- grated into a completely automatic line with tray loader/shrink wrapper, for a shelf ready transit pack or it can be used as a stand-alone unit for manual tray packing. Visitors to the PPMA Show will get to see the new 511 Tray Erector on the Endoline stand. Endoline (Stand D30) T: 01767 316422

IEF Werner linear motion prod- ucts and solutions from R.A. Rodriguez are proving increas- ingly popular in the packaging and processing sectors. These along with the company’s new Universal Robot robotic arm, will be its main focus at PPMA 2012. Both Universal Robot arms are suitable where traditional robots are considered to be too large, too expensive, too noisy or not suffi- ciently flexible. The new long reach version has all the inherent qualities and user friendliness of its smaller counterpart but can handle double the payload – 10kg – and has a reach of 1,300mm. It is much lighter than other robots
in this class and, as it requires no dedicated base, can be moved around from task to task. All elements of the The R.A. Rodriguez IEF Werner linear motion programme are designed to be freely combined enabling single or multi-axis systems to be created simply and quickly. The modules are made from extruded aluminium section and, in addition to low weight, pro- vide high dynamic speed, good torsional stiffness, low deflec- tion, high load stability and repeatable positioning accuracy. Solutions to meet EC regulations Travtec Group (Stand E10)
At the PPMA Show, the Travtec Group will introduce enhanced versions of its on- and off line coding solutions enabling companies to meet latest EC track & trace regu- lations. It will also demonstrate its foil traversing unit for the Wolke m600 printer featuring foil compatible ink. The EC Falsified Medicines Directive track and trace legislation requires all pharmaceutical packaging supplied within the EC to incorporate a serialised 2D Datamatrix code on individual packs. Both the new Pharmacarton Elite and enlarged TR-760-TT Speed Feeder meet the requirements. The Wolke m600 Advanced uses HP tech- nology and water-based inks to deliver clean and maintenance-free real time coding onto a wide range of substrates, producing charac- ters and barcodes up to 600dpi. In addition, the printer can now be specified with an ink for non- porous surfaces such as blister foil packs. The spe- cially formulated solvent based ink is said to offer excellent finish and enhanced clarity even for small characters, while Travtec’s secial Traversing Unit enables the printer to be integrated into existing blister lines with multiple head configurations. Bagging and tray packing solutions

Pacepacker Services will showcase a range of its award winning tray packing, bagging and palletising solutions at the PPMA Show. The FlexaPac system – a patented tray and crate packing solution for del- icate netted fruits, vegetables and other foods which achieves throughput of 60 packs per minute and eliminates waste– is an automation solution which has overcome the traditionally labour intensive and waste prone process of packing netted delicate products into shelf-ready cartons, trays and crates. Another highlight will be the compact Fanuc M-710iC high speed six axis palletising robot with multi-purpose end effector suitable for manufacturers with limited space and those looking to stack numerous product types, includ- ing trays, sacks and crates, without part changeover. Pacepacker’s Sack Placer and Total Bag Control (TBC) System will conclude this year’s line-up, which accurately seals difficult to handle sacks of bulk products and now offers a variety of optional mobility kits which allows the TBC system to work across multiple production lines.
