AUSTRALIA

From The Front Line KATRIN RUMMER,

Product Manager, Travel 2 “In the last six weeks or so we’ve seen an increase

in Australia room nights and passengers. The largest growth was Western Australia, particularly Perth. “Self drives, rail, independent tours

and hotels have sold more than escorted touring. We’ve had great Singapore Airlines and Cathay Pacific offers in the market for sales May/June which helps.”

CLARE HAYNES, Australia and New Zealand Product Manager Premier Holidays

“We’ve noticed increased interest in the

Whitsundays – the ultimate coral reef experience. We’ve added Heron Island, Paradise Bay Eco Escape, as well as Whitsunday Apartments on Hamilton Island. New excursions include Tangalooma Dolphin Adventure from Brisbane, Flames of the Forest from Cairns and Alice Springs balloon flights."

AARON JENNINGS, Australia Product Manager, Cox & Kings “Australia continues well,

on a par with last year, though the exchange rate, fuel surcharges and APD don’t help. Tasmania is experiencing growing interest. "Beautiful Kuri Bay in the Kimberley opened recently. Guests can immerse themselves in the history, landscape, environment and wildlife of this remote location, one of the world’s biggest humpback whale breeding sanctuaries.”

PENNY BONES, Proprietor, Southern Cross Travel and Premier Aussie Specialist

“Older people are going more, probably because it’s something they’ve had on their wish list for a while. "People are spending longer and doing

Free Indigenous Guest Activities

At the essence of the local Indigenous people’s beliefs and traditions lies an unconditional connection to this land. This bond is a powerful, living part of their unique culture. It is a spirituality that must be experienced to be understood. From Indigenous art classes for kids to bush yarns and storytelling at the Circle of Sand, from guided garden walks and dance performances to spear and boomerang throwing with an Indigenous guide, these experiences are educational, interactive, inspirational and absolutely FREE to all of our guests.

Sails in the Desert

A design vision of modern minimalism is adorned with a subtle desert pattern and elements of Indigenous art and tradition. Sails in the Desert Hotel was named for the soaring white sails that crown its roof. Key features such as the Mulgara Gallery, fine dining and the Red Ochre Spa create a truly five star experience. After a transformational refurbishment of the guest rooms and public areas this premium hotel will set a new standard of excellence in outback Australia from October 2012.

Tali Wiru

‘Tali Wiru’, meaning ‘Beautiful Dune’ in local Anangu language, encapsulates the magic of fine dining under the Southern Desert sky. Limited to an intimate group of 20 people, the Tali Wiru experience begins with Champagne and canapés around a firepit and progresses to the dune top for a Table d’hote four-course dinner, matched with premium Australian wine. After dinner, a local storyteller will captivate with stories of Aboriginal language, spirituality, land and culture.

Dining facilities range from fine dining, casual café meals and takeaway pizzas to traditional Australian buffets under spectacular night skies.

Getting there is easy with both Qantas and Virgin Australia flying directly into Ayers Rock (Connellan) Airport from Sydney. Both airlines also offer connecting flights from most capital cities and a complimentary coach transfer will take you to and from Ayers Rock Airport to the Resort.
