SUNNY ISLES BEACH Southern Florida’s
Sunny Isles Beach is one of southern Florida’s top holiday spots that offers visitors the chance to combine a relaxing beach holiday with two of the state’s most exciting cities. Midway between Miami and Fort Lauderdale, the resort boasts 2.5 miles of fine sand beach that is perfect for families and couples looking for a tranquil getaway within easy reach of an urban buzz. Miami’s trendy South Beach, for example, is just a 20-minute drive to the south, while the palm-lined boulevards of Fort Lauderdale are a similar distance to the north. With a wide variety of beachside accommodations ranging from luxury resorts to art deco motels and family- run inns, Sunny Isles Beach caters to all budgets. International brands include Trump International, Doubletree Ocean Point Resort & Spa, Marco Polo Beach Resort and Travelodge Monaco Beach Resort, while the Turnberry Isle is renowned as one of Florida’s finest golf destinations. The emphasis all along the beach is on
a laid-back atmosphere but that does not mean there is not plenty to do. A host of water sports includes surfing, snorkelling, jet skiing and kayaking, while many hotels offer facilities such as championship golf courses, tennis, elegant spas and fitness centres. The landmark Newport Fishing Pier is
a favourite spot for casting a line, while Sunny Isles Beach' charter boats offer deep-sea fishing excursions. For visitors keen to stay in touch with
home or office, there is free wi-fi on parts of the beach and at 10 city parks throughout the resort. Top spots include Samson Oceanfront Park, which includes a children’s play area. Meanwhile, Oleta River State Park is a
favourite with nature lovers. There's bike, kayak and canoe rentals, rustic cabins for hire, and picnic pavilions. One of the most popular stretches of
beach is Haulover Park. Manned by lifeguards, it's an ideal family spot. Facilities include a nine-hole golf course, marina, tennis, shops and snack bars. While Sunny Isles Beach is rightly famous for its glistening sand, there is plenty to attract holidaymakers away from the shore. A free shuttle bus operates along the beachfront Collins

Avenue to Aventura Mall, which boasts top department stores such as Bloomingdale’s and Macy’s. Keen shoppers should also head for the exclusive retailers of Bal Harbour, where leading names include Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue. The Village at Gulfstream Park is southern Florida’s latest outdoor shopping and entertainment complex, with a tempting collection of shops, restaurants and nightclubs. It is next to the Gulfstream Park horseracing course and casino. History beckons too. St Bernard de
Clairvaux Church was originally a monastery built in Spain in the 12th Century. Closed in the mid-19th Century, the cloisters and other buildings were bought by newspaper magnate William Randolph Hearst in 1925 and reassembled in North Miami Beach. And no visit to Sunny Isles Beach
would be complete without sampling at least one of the resort’s famous Russian delicatessens. But Russian food is not the only cuisine
on offer. The city caters to all kinds of tastes and pockets, from casual pavement cafes to gourmet restaurants. When the
sun goes down, visitors can choose from a huge variety of dining options along Collins Avenue. Menus range from succulent seafood and juicy American burgers to Cuban specialities and tapas. If the night is still young, your clients
can relax with a tropical cocktail by the beach or head for the chic bars and clubs of South Beach. Sunny Isles Beach also makes a relaxing
base for exploring everything that Miami and Fort Lauderdale have to offer. Children will love Jungle Island theme park and zoo, Miami Seaquarium and Miami Children’s Museum. Culture vultures should head for
Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, while sports fans might be able to catch a professional baseball, basketball or American football game with the Miami Marlins, Miami Heat or Miami Dolphins. And everyone will enjoy an exhilarating airboat ride through the Everglades, just a short drive from Sunny Isles Beach.
What’s New The luxury Turnberry Isle Resort has joined Marriott’s Autograph Collection. The hotel was part of Fairmont Hotels until last year.
