Keeping INCIDENTS low

Festival Leisure Park in Essex, a keen Park Mark supporter and award holder for many years, is celebrating once again after achieving its safer parking status. Reassessment of the popular park’s 2,000-space facility, which annually records incidents in single figures despite 1.5 million visiting vehicles, was conducted by Essex Police accredited assessor John Hills, and Mike Bibby. Described by Bibby as: ‘Another fine example of a well-managed retail/leisure facility where, due to the diligence of all personnel involved, any issues are kept to the absolute minimum’, the leisure park features various restaurants, retail outlets, a Travelodge hotel and a Hollywood Bowl.

EVEN SAFER IN HASTINGS

Hastings Borough Council head of parking and highways, Rasoul Shailow, was commended for ensuring ongoing improvements to the borough’s 12 parking facilities recently, when successful Park Mark re-assessments were completed by the BPA’s Mike Bibby and Sussex Police accredited assessor Trevor Cox.

Over the past 12 months only five relevant crime incidents – a reduction of seven – had been recorded, with nine facilities recording none. This was against a total annual vehicle usage of 747,254.

BASILDON BOOST

Six new awards in Basildon – including awards for the station car park and one other owned by Basildon Town Centre Management and run by Euro Car Parks – bring the Essex region Park Mark total to 218. Over the past 12 months across all facilities, with an annual vehicle throughput of

around 1m vehicles, only 11 relevant incidents were recorded, with three sites recording none. Euro Car Parks’ senior operations manager, David Gleason, said: ‘I am proud of my team at the Basildon operation and their consistent high standards, which offer customers a safe place to park’.
