Treating clients There’s a wide range of treatments out there to help to remove calluses and for use long-term to keep them at bay.
“The best way to treat clients who suffer from hard skin on the feet is to advise them to have regular pedicures and to apply a cream and use a foot file on a daily basis. By keeping up this routine the calluses will reduce dramatically,” says Audrey Heffernan of Hennessy Hair & Beauty.
Once you have chosen a range of treatments to offer, it’s time to encourage clients that a callus treatment is a must for the Summer months! You will probably already offer a holiday package containing common holiday treatments such as waxing, nails and tanning, so try and integrate a callus treatment into this package to get feet in beach condition and to encourage clients to make it a regular treatment.
Products specifically designed for callus treatments are also ideal for incorporating into a pedicure treatment; that way your client isn’t specifically booking a treatment because they have calluses, but booking their regular pedicure. This is the time when you’re likely to find that your client has dry skin or a callus and then you can opt to use a callus-removing product on their feet during the treatment.

CND’s Cucumber Heel Therapy is an intensive moisturising complex with cucumber extract, chamomile and aloe to aid in the repair of dry, cracked skin. Using allantoin and urea, it deeply moisturises, whilst helping to calm irritation with the help of cucumber extract, chamomile and aloe. Panthenol also helps to improve elasticity. The concentrated formula can be used sparingly, making it cost-effective, to help relieve the effects of severe dryness on the heels and other parts of the body.

Callus Peel, available from Hennessy Hair & Beauty is an ideal product to use in a salon and only takes 15 minutes. The system includes a skin softening patch that is wrapped around the bottom of the foot to soften the skin and then a special device is used to scrape off the dead skin callus, followed by a third step to polish the remaining keratin. The treatment is completed by applying a moisturising cream. All four items can be purchased in a kit and also bought
individually. The moisturising cream is also an ideal retail item for the client as part of a daily homecare routine.
