KICKING OFF ABOUT CANCER HMV and Xbox raised more than £19,000 for Teenage Cancer Trust at last month’s five-a-side soccer challenge.
More than 40 teams from companies in the games, film, music and technology markets headed to Wembley for the tournament. Participants included Microsoft, Nintendo, Activision, Warner Bros, Koch Media, Sony Pictures, Paramount, 20th Century Fox and Ministry of Sound.
The big winner on the day was Sony Music, who narrowly beat OMD in a “thrillingly close Man City/Man United- style final”. The team’s captain Ryan Slack even picked up an Xbox 360 Kinect bundle as the prize for Player of the Tournament. There was even a demonstration of real football skills from professional coaches. HMV’s Gennaro Castaldo said: “We’re incredibly moved by the wonderful generosity of all the participating companies and individuals, not just in terms of the financial and product support they give each year, but for their time also, which is an equally valuable commodity. “We look forward to seeing everyone again next May.”
