Against a backdrop of continuing economic strength, Brazil’s freight forwarders are gearing up for the major sporting events that are soon to take place in South America’s largest country. But while bullishly predicting rising volumes, they warn of the need to improve the logistics infrastructure required to cope with the expected increase in demand

impact on supply chain management, observes Detlef Trefzger, member of the management board of Essen- based Schenker, responsible for contract logistics and supply chain management. He noted that the recent global economic crisis “has changed our reality” and there will be new realities “that will have a long- term impact on the situation we are familiar with in supply chain management. But there are also excellent opportunities for the globally active logistics industry to benefit from these developments.”
