n this third issue of Air Logistics Management we have placed quite an emphasis on emerging markets. As air freight movements have

pages – and if business is good you can find an excuse to stay on for the FIFA World Cup in 2014 – or even take in a few athletics events when the country hosts the 2016 Olympic Games two years later. These are the two big sporting events that Latin America’s largest country hopes will help to kick-start its economy into top gear. And to back up Brazil’s aspirations, it ranks third, after China and India, in the 2012 Agility Emerging Markets Logistics Index produced by UK-
based research and analysis company Transport Intelligence. A quick snapshot of the report can be found in this issue. Our keynote feature is a review of the fast-moving fashion business.
It’s no longer a cool stroll down the catwalk for the logistics providers involved in the multi-billion dollar business of meeting the ‘must-have’ sartorial demands of the modern-day consumer market; it’s a high- speed, high-value – and often high security – race to get goods into the retail outlets and the hands of eager buyers. Often with a short shelf life, fashion is the latest addition to the modern world’s growing list of perishable goods that require a rapid transportation cycle. To end on a fashion note: “Give a girl the right shoes and she can
conquer the world,” exclaimed screen icon Marilyn Monroe. To conquer today’s world, shippers need the right supply chain services – we hope this issue of Air Logistics Management can highlight some of the best options available.
