Africa and the Americas dominate the

“fastest-growing air freight trade lanes” identified in the Agility Emerging Markets Logistics Index, while Asia dominates the nominations for “trade lanes of the future” with the nominee slated as having the greatest potential for future growth being the Intra-Asia trade lane, followed by Asia - Europe. Other big routes for the future

Asia dominates the nominations for “trade lanes of the future”

China’s imports have seen particularly

strong growth in recent years, with goods shipped by air from the EU up by a massive 208 percent between 2005 and 2010. This compares to an increase of 71 percent for total emerging market

imports originating from the US and the EU. The UAE ranks an impressive fourth place in this list; Russia and Brazil are fifth and sixth, with South Africa at number eight, Turkey (nine) and Mexico (No 10).

highlighted by the survey are Asia - South America, Asia - Africa and Asia - Middle East, driven partly by the expansion of Chinese investment in these markets. Conversely, the list of world markets

deemed to be “least attractive” in the Index was topped by Iran, followed by Ethiopia and Syria. The recently conflict-torn markets of

Iraq and Libya ranked fourth and fifth respectively, followed by Nigeria, Uganda, Bangladesh, Egypt and Belarus.
