It recently started construction of a 47,000m2
logistics centre at the
Singapore International Logistics Industrial Park in Zhengzhou. The city is in Henan, the country’s third most populous province and a traffic and communication hub for road and rail as well as air transport. Building work on the facility is scheduled for completion in early 2013. According to a statement from Kerry
Logistics, it will be targeting the electronics and technology, automobile, industrial and material science sectors, using the facility to meet demand from customers for new warehousing space and a broad range of logistics services. Edwardo Erni, managing director,
mainland China at Kerry Logistics, commented: “China’s coastal provinces have refocused to attract manufacturers of higher value-added products and there has been a migration of production to the central and western regions due to lower land and labour costs. “We see the potential to transform
Zhengzhou into one of China’s manufacturing and processing hubs,” he said. “The new logistics centre will strengthen our comprehensive logistics
network in the central and western regions of China.” The logistics facility will operate in a
position adjacent to the national highway in the east and to the Longhai railway in the north. It is 20km south- east of the city centre.
