Speedo ‘revolutionises’ swimming

By: Jonathon Harker

SPEEDO HAS unveiled its Fastskin3 swimming technology to the world, set to ‘revolutionise’ the sport of swimming. Fastskin3 is being claimed as a

world first and engineers the swimmer’s cap, goggle and suit to work together as one racing system. The concept has been fully approved by FINA (Fédération Internationale de Natation). According to Speedo, the

Fastskin3 Racing System offers a full body passive drag reduction of 16.6 per cent and an 11 per cent improvement in the swimmer’s oxygen economy – allowing the swimmer to swim for longer. The brand also claims the kit provides a 5.2 per cent reduction in body active drag, resulting in ‘the world’s fastest cap, goggle and suit ever’. Speedo has designed and

engineered the three elements together for a unified system that uses a new anatomical marking system – Fit Point Markers – at strategic points across the pieces to help swimmers align the kit.

SUMMIT JUNKIE

SUMMIT JUNKIE is a relatively new brand on the outdoors block. It showcased its wares at September’s Outdoor Trade Show and specialises in colourful and vibrant leisure wear tee shirts and accessories, pitched at those who like being at altitude, as the brand name suggests. One line from the brand is the Walkers and Climbers Ben

Nevis T-shirt. Made from 100 per cent cotton, it features a mountain outline and rock climber detail embroidered in contrasting colours on front of shirt (women’s edition pictured). The reverse at hem line has a data patch detailing the mountains grid reference position in the world and its height in metres and feet. www.summitjunkie.co.uk
