December, 2011 Function/Waveform Generators
Oakwood Village, OH — Rigol Technologies, Inc. is introducing the DG4000 series waveform generators, the latest development in the compa- ny’s family of fast, easy-to-use, cut- ting-edge test instruments. A func- tion/arbitrary waveform generator, the DG4000 has 2 output channels with up to 160MHz output, 14-bit voltage resolution, a 500MSa/s sam- ple rate, a high resolution 7-in. (178mm) display and over 130 built- in waveforms. Designed for R&D engineers,
production test engineers’ teaching labs and advanced researchers, the DG4000 series is suitable for applica- tions in the communications, aero- space/ defense, research and educa- tion, industrial and consumer elec- tronics, computing and instrumenta- tion industries. The new waveform generator
helps engineers accomplish a range of testing by combining multiple functions into one easy-to-use instrument. Functions include Arbi - trary Waveform Generator, Func -
tion Generator, Pulse Generator, Harmonic Generator, and Analog/ - Digital Modulator. The instrument series also incorporates the compa-

X-Ray WorX: Automatic X-Ray Tube Venting
Garbsen, Germany — X-RAY WorX GmbH has introduced an important enhancement of microfocus X-ray technology in terms of easy usability and maintainability — the new auto- matic venting for open microfocus X- ray tubes. Until now the venting of open

X-ray tubes had to be performed manually during maintenance before replacing spare parts. The new elec- tronically controlled venting valve along with the associated turbo pump, now make it possible for X-ray tubes to be vented automatically. This innovation not only avoids dam- aging the turbo pump, it also reduces downtimes and increases operational lifetime of the turbo pump. In addition, the new high reso-
lution microfocus X-ray tubes of the XWT-series with 240kV acceleration voltage extend the possible applica- tions for computed tomography (CT)
systems and allow penetration of higher wall-thicknesses in two- and three-dimensional X-ray analysis. In combination with the new cooling of the tube head the 240kV X-ray tubes make for an excellent combination for CT systems for dimensional measurement with high accuracy.
