Concord, CA — Calex Mfg. Co., Inc. has introduced the QCM Chassis Mount Series of DC/DC converters. The QCM offers up to 75 Watts of output power in a rugged, encapsu- lated 2.65 x 4.2 x 1.0-in. (67.3 x 106.7 x 25.4mm) package. The recessed barrier strips on
the QCM allow all connections to be made in tight quarters while protect- ing the barrier strip from physical damage. The design of the QCM allows the unit to be mounted in a variety of orientations plus the addi- tion of a heatsink for extended tem- perature applications. The QCM is suitable for ruggedized mobile appli- cations as well as backplane or
NEMA enclosure mounted process control applications. The QCM Series offers two in -
put ranges, 18 to 36VDC and 36 to 75VDC. Output voltage options are 3.3, 5, 12, 15 and 24VDC. Output power is 75 Watts. All models offer ON/OFF
to conserve battery power. The idle current in the OFF state is only 6mA. Each model also offers output voltage trim to compensate for voltage drops over long leads. All units pro- vide over-voltage protection, pulse by pulse current limiting, over-temperature protection as well as dead short current lim- iting.

Newport Introduces New Optical Power Meter
Irvine, CA — Newport Corporation has introduced the 1830-R Optical Power Meter. A newly designed opti- cal meter, it provides a “drop-in” replacement for the company’s legacy 1830-C Power Meter which has been widely used in fiber optic component production and testing. DC power measurements can be
easily viewed on the 7-segment, 4+ digit LED display. Units of W, dBm, dB, and relative measurement can be displayed in the wide-angle view. A wide dynamic range is provided with power sensitivities down to 10pW and full scale readings up to 2W (detector dependent). The unit’s built-in, audible beeping tone changes its frequency as a function of incident optical power, making it
