MARKET REPORT COMPACT PLANT continued
Wheatway expands screening range
Wheatway Solutions has increased its line-up of Gyru-Star screening buckets. The 4-100A model
developed for Avant compact loaders was introduced earlier this year at the Executive Hire Show, and this has now been joined by the 3-80E and 4-100E for mini and midi excavators, and for backhoe loaders. The attachments have flexible star-shaped teeth to separate soil and finer materials
from aggregates, vegetation and excavated topsoil. Sealed bearings are incorporated, together with self-adjusting carbon chain belts, for reduced maintenance. Wheatway plans to introduce versions of the Gyru-Star for larger excavators and telehandlers next year.

Terex is to supply 200 site dumpers to GAP Group as part of an order worth more than £2m, including models with capacities ranging from 1 to 9 tonne.
The hirer has offered Terex dumpers for several years, including forward and swivel tip variants. Group Procurement Manager, Ken Stewart, said, “Utilisation of our existing dumpers is consistently very high, and we like to keep the average age of our fleet down. Customers benefit from better fuel consumption, reduced emissions and efficiency gains.”
GAP has taken delivery of the first batch of machines, and it is expected that all 200 will have been delivered by Christmas. They will be distributed throughout the company’s 60-strong depot network.

Shannon Solo shows versatility
Derived from its remote control Solo Hi-Tip dumper, Shannon Plant (South West)’s Solo Mini Transporter is designed to reduce risks associated with manual handling. The company says that the machine can be operated at a range of up to 200m, with remote start and emergency stop controls.
Power is provided by a Briggs & Stratton
Vanguard 16hp petrol engine with an auto-idle facility to reduce fuel consumption and emissions, and which has a three year warranty. Hydraulic operation means there are no belts or chains, and an auxiliary supply can be fitted to run hydraulic equipment, with a flow rate of up to 20 litres per minute.
The Solo can also be configured as a remote
control rotary mower, a sprayer for applying fertilisers or de-icing solutions, or with a water hose for fire fighting applications and dust control.
