Confidence is high at P.E.T. and its latest news is that plans are well advanced to build a new HQ hire centre on a redevelopment site just down the road from its existing premises.

In Dromad’s case, diversification took a different route. With all of Ireland’s traditional industrial markets seemingly in decline, there still appeared to be opportunities in the leisure market. Seamus Byrne and his team set up a new division, Fitness 4 Hire, to supply up-market fitness machines on both a rental or rent/buy basis throughout Ireland.

Latest news from P.E.T. is that it plans to build a new HQ ‘Super Centre’ on a nearby redevelopment site.

Ironically, the industry that has played a big part in P.E.T.’s recent fortunes is the oldest established industry in the area - the rail industry. Carl Banks joined forces with a former employee who had gained experience in the rail infrastructure industry.

In mid-2009 Fitness 4 Hire went nationwide with an ever-increasing inventory. The rapid increase in stock requirements led the company to take control of its supply chain by importing equipment directly. Deliveries are undertaken in dedicated liveried vehicles that will soon include electric vans to increase the company’s already excellent ‘green’ credentials. We are always on the look-out for marketing breaks,” comments Seamus.“We operate the only web cam in Dundalk and

Seamus comments, “we started in November 2008 with just ten items of fitness gear; we knew full well

that we needed a totally different strategy and branding. People hiring this sort of kit in their own home don’t expect it to be delivered
