independents like us, as well as the big boys, and it gives us a voice. It also lets us see what manufacturers are developing, and keeps us informed about new products. It’s exciting to learn about new equipment that we could add to the fleet. We believe in forming strong relationships with suppliers that you can trust and depend on, and there are many still appearing in EHN that we have been dealing with since we opened for business nine years ago. We will be marking our tenth anniversary next September and, despite a challenging last few years, like EHN we have continued to develop and move forward.

We have been
reading EHN ever since we started the business in 2000. It’s the best way of finding out what is happening in our industry, and getting information about the latest
equipment on the market. It’s also interesting to read the articles on other hirers, and it enables you to make comparisons against the ways in which they are serving their customers.

“ I have been reading EHN since our business was established in
1993. There are nine of us at the depot, and we all read either the printed magazine or the on-line edition. You never
stop learning in this industry. As an
independent, it can be all too easy to be focused solely on running your own business. EHN gives hirers like us a wider
perspective on
the whole industry, and keeps us informed about suppliers’ new products. I really enjoy the articles on other hire companies. It is fascinating to
learn how they started and subsequently developed, and reading about the challenges they have faced can help you in your own business.
“ “ I read EHN avidly.
I appreciate the way it writes, and cares about,
“
John Smith, MD, Prestige Hire, Solihull and Olton
The first thing I
read in each issue is Crosshire. It’s simply great.
If anyone wanted a summary of what it’s like to work in tool and plant hire, they just need to read that.
EHN gives an overview of what is going on in our industry and you get a feel for the prevailing mood within it. It’s always good to read about companies that are expanding and opening new depots, particularly in recent years, and it proves that it is not just bad news out there.
EHN gives a truer, more positive picture of the real world, rather than the constant doom and gloom you read in the national media.

EHN has been essential
reading for us from the day we established our business in 2005, and well before that, David would regularly bring home copies of Hire News, having worked for other hirers since 1969, including Campbell Gray Plant & Tool Hire, Hi Speed Hire and Network Plant. Although we look at the on-line version, we like to get the printed magazine and give it a thorough read as soon as it arrives on the doormat. The Crosshire and Forum articles help hirers understand important industry issues, and it is always interesting to read about other hirers and learn about their operations.
Overall, EHN keeps us updated and is a thoroughly good read. ”

First, I’d like ”” 38
to congratulate EHN its 40th anniversary, and I hope it keeps up the great work for many more years to come. Its special quality is that it manages to cover virtually all aspects of the industry, from a single-depot independent in a remote part of the country, to the large national companies, as well as hirers serving specialist markets like ourselves. No other magazine achieves anything similar. It tells you what is happening in the industry, and the changes and challenges that everyone involved in it faces. I read EHN on-line. I carry too many pieces of paper around with me as I travel, and having it available on the magazine’s website means that, wherever I am, I can fire up my laptop and start reading.
