From the Editor Even the bad times are good! G

oodness, things are getting tough out there. As I write, the Bank of England has embarked on another round of quantitative easing, my pension pot is dwindling by the minute and my weekly shop is certainly stretching the family finances.

But, thereʼs good news, folks. The New Year looks like itʼs going to kick off on a very positive note, with new brands entering the printwear market and, of course, the promise of lots of new products for 2012. All of this, of course, is great news for Printwear & Promotion Live 2012 which is going to be a whopping 30% bigger than this yearʼs show. With lots of big brands returning to the show, itʼs a ringing endorsement that the printwear industry has come through the bad times in relatively good shape. You can find out all about this yearʼs show at www.printwearandpromotion.co.uk - and if youʼre a decorator, donʼt forget to enter our garment decoration awards. The winners and best of the rest will be on show for all to see at Printwear & Promotion Live.

Elsewhere in this issue, you can read up on a couple of new brands in the marketplace. Well actually, one of them is a well known name – Spalding. The brand has a long history in supplying sports accessories, but this will be the first time a Spalding sportswear collection has been available to printwear buyers in the UK. There are three exciting new ranges in the collection, including base layers, which have become the must-have item for serious sports people.

The other exciting new brand is Dare 2b, which we covered briefly in our August supplier profiles. Dare 2b have recognised a niche in the market to supply the serious amateur with a range of multi-sport clothing including, waterproofs, windshells, midlayers and technical T shirts and leggings. Oh, and with Christmas almost here, we have a few ideas on the promotional merchandise front to get you into the festive spirit. Thatʼs all for now.

Have a great month.
