5. DISCOVER “THE FIVE LANDS” Although the remote coastal fishing villages of Cinque Terre – “the five lands” – are now linked to the outside world by rail, for centuries they were only reachable by sea... or on foot. Hike with us through terraced vineyards overlooking the sea from Monterosso to Vernazza, the timeless “pearl of Cinque Terre.” If you would prefer not to walk, taking the train back to your hideaway by the sea is a thrilling experience in itself; the rest of your day is free. 6. COOKING IN TUSCANY

Tuscany is all about the food; experience this passion firsthand as you head through the Tuscan Hills to nearby Lucca, where a hands-on lesson with local chefs at a cooking school reveals secrets in the art of making fresh pasta – Fattoria Colleverde is one of the region’s foremost wineries and olive oil producers. Do a little virgin olive oil tasting… a little Tuscan wine tasting… and more than a little pasta tasting at lunch. Buon appetito! Meals BL
