You’ll see them everywhere as you wind your way across Italy from Rome to the Renaissance treasures of Florence – gathered in hillside groves... lining miles of country roads across Tuscany and Umbria... or standing by like silent sentinels as you view Florentine villas or the Vatican gardens, and visit Siena’s Duomo, Assisi’s Basilica di San Francesco and Rome’s Colosseum. They’re cypress trees, a quintessential part of the Italian landscape since the Romans brought them here two millennia ago. Encountering these magnificent trees – some over 1,000 years old, with fragrant wood believed to have supernatural powers – you’ll sense that each one has a unique story to tell...


1. ARRIVE ROME Tour begins: 6:00 PM, Hotel Majestic Roma. A transfer is included from Rome Leonardo da Vinci Airport in Fiumicino to the historic Hotel Majestic Roma, ideally located on the fashionable Via Veneto in the heart of the city. 3. EXPLORING ROME, THE ETERNAL CITY Once the virtual capital of most of the ancient world, Rome has influenced art, architecture, literature and government for over 2,000 years. City sightseeing today includes the ruins of the Roman Forum from above, as well as visits to such timeless sites as the Colosseum, St. Peter’s Basilica and St. Peter’s Square.
