Straightforward and aggressive, this is the Jens Anso Model 67 — nicely done, Boker.

The Benchmade Onslaught was

designed by custom knifemaker Bob Lum (deceased), who many give credit for bringing the Japanese tanto style blade to these shores and has since become a popular choice on tactical folders. The large On- slaught’s modified clip point blade, backed by premium 154 CPM blade steel, has the cool feel of an Iron Mis- tress bowie. An equally curvaceous handle, arched at the base, joins the blade’s curves. This knife has a sound, tenacious design. The SOG Toothlock is an in-house

design that sports a “tire-tread”-style handle to go with its assertive blade.

A pair of imposing edges. At top is the super-size Benchmade Onslaught, at bottom the SOG Toothlock.

The up-kicked waved blade style smacks of a reverse tanto afloat on Asian surf. The blade even has ori- ental steel in the form of layered san mai VG10. The molded GRN handle, with its treaded texture and historic themed center crest, is a nice com- pliment to the onerous blade. The Toothlock racks up the blade using 2-lobe geometry and disengages via a slide bar. In the tactical world, wick- ed is good! The Boker Jens Anso designed

Model 67 is pure brute. Danish knife- maker Anso is one of the top up-and- comers in the custom knife world and his 67 has all the right stuff: Titani-

um liners with a sturdy frame-lock, a corrugated G10 scale (which Anso helped popularize) on the front, over- sized ambidextrous thumb studs, and a 3.5" blade of premium, Bohler N690BO stainless steel. The modified Wharncliff blade is pure workhorse and the rest of the knife delivers the goods to back it up.

Runts ’N Grunts Short, runty knives are hot in both

folder and fixed-blade variety. Many of these look like a typical tactical folder that run headlong into an an- vil at 100 mph. These knives have short blades, which retain the width
