The PRO TSC 1911

Rimfire Pistol Semi-auto

The basis of The Tunnel PRO TSC 1911 pistol is the GSG 1911 (German Sport Guns). In standard form, this is offered as a 22 rimfire semi-auto pistol which looks and shoots and operates just like a centrefire

And, no matter how quick you are with that trigger, you won’t beat the action- cycle.

Great range bag – with plenty of room for ammo and spare mags

1911 but, the UK version is factory-fitted with a 12 inch barrel which is cleverly disguised as a silencer! Unfortunately, even with a twelve-inch barrel, the pistol is still short of the law’s required 24 inches OAL, so a ‘silly thing’ must be fitted to the grip. Nonetheless, it’s as close to a 1911 as we Brits are ever likely to get.

Yes, yes, I know, we already have the Browning Buckmark – that neat little 22 rifle which – with a clever bit of metalworking can also be made into a UK legal semi-auto pistol. However, I have never lusted after a Browning Buckmark. I’m sure it will do everything the GSG 1911 will do but it just doesn’t have that appeal. But I do want a GSG 1911! And so do a lot of you as it turns out and we have had to wait until now for The Tunnel to catch up with orders but at last they’re here.

The whole kit is quite impressive and a very nice carry- bag is thoughtfully included. This is neither a rifle nor a pistol, so there probably isn’t a readily available bag anyway so The Tunnel had some made and one is included with the pistol. It’s made from a heavy black Cordura-type material and has pockets inside for spare mags etc. and looks to be pretty good quality.

If you’ve not shot a 1911, the ‘grip-safety’ may be an issue initially – I’m compressing it with my thumb in this shot but your normal grip should do the job. The pistol also comes with the beaver-tail grip safety, the Commander hammer, ambidextrous safety catch and lightened trigger shoe. All desirable mods back in the day... The ambidextrous safety is just above and to the left of my thumb.

The faux silencer is turned from aluminium and comes in a few different styles and it’s down to your personal choice which you go for. All are acceptably real-looking but I chose one with ‘holes’ which looks quite funky. The overall finish is an authentic matt-black but GSG offer the standard pistol in other finishes so who knows? I couldn’t resist spraying the stainless-steel extension matt- black as it looks a bit odd in shiny stainless but Duracoat would be

better. One ten-shot mag. is included but additional mags. - and spare parts – are readily available as the GSG is sold world-wide as a stand-alone 22 pistol.

So what’s it like to shoot? If you’ve ever shot a proper 1911, or any other fullbore semi-auto pistol for that matter, you will remember
