Voodoo Tactical 42 inch Padded Weapons Case

by Mike Hibbard

Currently, most of my shooting revolves around Gallery Rifle and I use a Rimfire Magic 10/22 and a 44 Marlin. When deciding to buy a gun-slip or hard case for them, I thought that it would be a logical idea to try and have all my equipment with me, near the firing-point, to save having to trudge back and forth to the car to swop rifles and ammunition. After sometime spent researching what was available, I settled on the 42” Padded Weapons Case form Voodoo Tactical.

I knew that North West Custom Parts were a distributor but a quick call established that they were out of stock so I eventually decided to order directly from the US.

storage space in the form of dedicated MOLLE pouches and packs that are currently available.

Behind the pouches is a zipped compartment that opens up to reveal two further zipped pockets which would be ideal for storing targets, plotting sheets , certificates etc. Also, in this compartment are two Velcro secured padded pockets designed for holding handguns. A long-barrelled revolver or pistol would require using both pockets but this shouldn’t present an issue unless you are carrying both.

The case is fitted for the attachment of straps allowing it to be carried as a backpack and this is a sensible addition given the large potential weight when fully loaded. A single shoulder-strap and carrying handle allow the user many different ways to carry the case.

Access to the main internal area is by way of two zips that open on three sides to allow the case to open up flat so that both rifles inside can be accessed easily. There is further closed-cell foam around the outside of the case underneath the zip area and this provides further safety and rigidity. On opening the case, you are presented with two areas for storing rifles or carbines up to about 40 inches in length. There are

There is no doubt that the case is well constructed, this being evident just removing it from the box. The case is semi-rigid due to the internal closed-cell foam in the top, middle divider and bottom and this stops it from flapping around when empty or unzipped.

Externally, there are three pouches with a generous Velcro closure backed up by both QD buckle and cinch cords ensuring that the contents should never escape. The outer two are big enough to carry 50 round MTM type ammo boxes, AR mags or similar whilst the middle one will swallow a 100 round box of 44 mag ammo. There are also MOLLE attachment points at either end of the pouches and this will allow you to add further

padded areas in the corners to protect the butt and muzzle of your rifle and Velcro straps to hold it in place. As mentioned earlier, an internal foam divider provides a cushion between the two guns preventing damage to woodwork or knocks to scopes.

So, upon first inspection of the case and having a good look round, I was delighted with my buy. Two rifles and all my kit in one trip from the car to the firing point, problem solved! Well, in theory anyway.

The morning of the first shoot after the case arrived I proceeded to load it up and I encountered my first problem, do you put the rifles in first and then all the
