manager for Aqualux Phil Edwards has joined Aqualux in the role of National Account Manager. With a vast and varied background in the industry, Phil has been involved with sales and marketing since 1992, succeeding in a number of roles including Sales Manager, Product Manager and Business Development Manager. He has worked in both the UK and European markets and is looking forward to bringing his breadth of experience to this new and challenging role. Phil commented: “I am thrilled to be joining the Aqualux team and I am sure that the strength of the company’s product offering and their superior service, coupled with my experience in the industry, will enable me to grow the business with our important key accounts.”


Ecodan gets MCS Certification


The commercial Ecodan CAHV water and space heating system from Mitsubishi Electric has received full accreditation for the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS).


The scheme allows building operators to claim back grants against installation of these advanced heat pump systems which have been designed specifically for the unique conditions of the UK commercial heating market. The MCS demonstrates the quality and competence in the technology. In the rapidly growing renewables industry, installers and products that carry the MCS mark are seen as the preferred option in the market place, because MCS is linked to many of the key factors driving demand.


Robust process


“The process for MCS is incredibly robust and also looks at the companies installing this type of equipment so that customers can have real confidence that they will get the renewable benefits and cuts in emissions they expect,” explains Commercial Heating Technical expert, James Timbs-Harrison. The Ecodan CAHV-P500YA-HPB commercial air to water heat pump can supply a building’s domestic hot water and heating. It has been certified under reference number HP0002/11, and joins the 10 residential Ecodan products already certified.


The CAHV unit was launched in February


this year and is already being specified for both new-build and retro-fit projects where a significant element of renewable heating and


building energy efficiency is required by planning regulations.


Easy installation


The system has been designed as a factory- sealed unit to allow for straightforward installation without the need for any refrigeration work on site. The mono-bloc system comes in units of 43kW at -3°C including defrost to deliver space heating and offers the ability to achieve legionella protection of domestic hot water with flow temperatures of up to 70°C without the need for electric backup. The in-built cascade controller enables multiple unit control of up to 16 units to provide a maximum of 688kW of renewable heating for larger buildings. This same controller also optimises the inverter driven compressors to achieve the


highest possible efficiencies from the capacity available. Built-in weather compensation enables better control and increases the efficiency to deliver year-round high performance.


In


addition to helping new-builds achieve planning permission, the range can be retro- fitted to existing buildings, and will work independently or alongside other heating systems.


The MCS is managed by the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) and is designed to evaluate products and installers against strict criteria for microgeneration technologies, thereby providing greater consumer protection whilst ensuring that grant money is spent effectively. MCS underpins the Low Carbon Buildings Programme.
