Laser Hair Removal A light show between your legs! Laser hair removal seems to work best on people with dark hair and light skin. However, newer devices have been created that are supposed to work on light hair and dark skinned people. Laser Hair Removal uses pulsed light to target, break down and destroy the melanin (dark pigment) and root of the hair. Hair usually falls out within 10-14 days. Exfoliation is key in further removal of the hairs. It takes a few treatments but the results are long lasting requiring only touch-ups down the road.
Depilatories (Hair Removal Creams) Depilatories work by breaking down the hair’s protein structure so that the hair comes out of the skin easily when rubbing the cream off. Sounds easy enough right? While it’s very easy, you have to be careful and test a small area of your skin to be sure you will not have a reaction to the cream. Also, the results usually only last about a week.

Electrolysis The only method of hair removal that is permitted to be called “permanent”, electrolysis uses a tiny needle that slides down into the hair follicle until it reaches the cells responsible for hair growth and then destroys them. The hair then releases and slides right out and will not grow back again. This isn’t a pain-free option, but local anesthetic creams are said to help. The cost isn’t quite pain free either.
Vaniqa Vaniqa is a topical prescription cream, also known as eflornithine 13.9%. It works by blocking an enzyme that would otherwise stimulate hair growth. Without the enzyme, hair growth is stunted in that area, and eventually may stop. Vaniqa is best used with other hair removal methods such as laser hair removal. Be prepared to put in some time with it if you plan to use it by itself.
Good ole Shaving Sometimes mowing the yard seems less time consuming! Still, shaving is reliable and cheap. Just be careful not to cause razor burn in the delicate area of the bikini line. Use a razor with a new blade, make sure hair is thorougly wet, shave in
the direction of hair growth, avoid
repeating strokes and take your time. Also, be careful not to put a scented lotion on the area immediately after, as that can cause irritation to the skin. Use a dab of petroleum jelly which will help moisturize.
