Wicked Good 5K Helps
Those in Need Runners and walkers are invited to sign up now for The Connection Fund’s Wicked Good 5K Walk/Run and Fam- ily Festival scheduled for Sun- day, October 30, from 8:30 a.m. to 12 noon at Lighthouse Point Park in New Haven. The 5K certified course, which starts and finishes near the park’s historic carousel, boasts scenic views of New Haven Harbor and Long Island Sound and passes a long beach, bird sanctuary, and lighthouse. The Kids Half-Mile Fun Run is open to ages 12 and under. Ribbons are provided to all finishers. Shirts will be given to pre-registered walkers/runners and the first 100 race day entrants. Trophies will be given to the top three female and male finishers in nine categories, ranging from ages 12 to 80+. In addition, awards will be given to best indi- vidual child and adult costumes. Everyone is welcome to stay for the Family Festival and post-race party. Enjoy food, drinks, music, and kids’ activities, including free carousel rides, face painting, pumpkin bowling and other games. Advance cost per person for the run/walk is $20 ($25 on race day), and $8 for Kids’ Fun Run ($10 on race day). Proceeds will benefit The Connection, a nonprofit human services leader founded in 1972 that serves 6,000 kids and adults in need monthly in Greater New Haven and Connecticut.
