As theAutumn/Winter season approaches,AbbiCox looks at the
newest salonwear trends to keep you looking beautifully chic.
Everyone wants to look their best, and being a beauty therapist makes looking good even more important! Not only does looking great make you feel great, but in an industry that is based around looks, keeping up with current fashion trends is essential.
dress for success
“The dress is the next big thing for salon wear,” saysAisling Kavanagh, of Diamond Designs. “For the past 10 years dresses were not popular as therapists felt more comfortable in tunics and trousers.”
Cavell Thomas, Creative Director at Inline London, agrees: “The dress is definitely back!”
So don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and try a dress as an alternative to a tunic and trousers. The dresses can be worn with leggings or tights if you are uneasy about having bare legs.
Dave Cottrell,Managing Director of La Beeby says: “The dress has been reinvented to become a stylish but practical alternative to a tunic. The tunic has also had a revamp, with longer and more fitted styles that flatter every shape and size.”
creative with colour
“Colour is a great way to enhance your brand and identity,” says Cavell. “Wearing bold colours like electric blue will grab attention which can boost your image and your mood.”
“We are seeing bold colours, from bright pinks and purples to vivid turquoise and teal becoming a popular choice for salons,” adds Dave.
Consider choosing a brighter colour that coordinates with your salon dècor, or go wild with a splash of animal print.
Aisling says: “Animal print is hugely popular - both leopard and zebra as it adds a new twist to black.”
details and accessories
“There is a desire for detail within the salon uniform,” says Dave. “Diamanté and crystals have been a popular choice for those wanting to stand out, whilst still having the comfort of a uniform which is made to wear in the salon.”
“Accessories are becoming more popular with therapists who want to make their uniforms more individual or tie in with their salon colour scheme,” he adds. “Coloured belts are a perfect choice to give an alternative look to a tunic or dress, as well as having matching headbands and funky silicone fob watches.”
Adding accessories can jazz up your existing salon wear without breaking the bank, ideal for those therapists on a tight budget.
“Accessories such as belts can be added...We find that when people buy our animal print tunics they tend to accessorise with matching headscarves and pumps,” agreesAisling.
