$250 million. While China was again the main region for new systems purchases, Korea showed signs of improvement, including a multi-system MaxBright™ MOCVD order from an important LED industry leader. Veeco also reported a strong MBE bookings quarter of $24 million. Data Storage orders were $38 million, up 15% sequentially. The Company’s Q2 2011 book-to-bill ratio was 1.17 to 1, and quarter- end backlog was $558.2 million.”
Mr. Peeler added, “We have seen spectacular cu- stomer reaction to our new MaxBright MOCVD system – in the second quarter we booked over $100 million of MaxBright systems – 40% of our total MOCVD bookings. We believe customers are clearly recognizing that MaxBright is simply the best tool on the market to drive down LED manufacturing costs.”
ITec, Germany, adds a multi-wavelength coupling unit for the alpha300 and alpha500
series. With the most recent introduction of a new multi-wavelength excitation-laser coupling unit WITec has further advanced the ease-of-use of its mi- croscope series. It is now possible to switch between up to three laser sources by the simple rotation of a filter wheel. Calibration and alignment of the laser beam path is guaranteed at all positions assuring ac- curate and variable Raman Imaging. Each excitation wavelength features a high-quality and wavelength optimized filter set, enabling the highest throughput and greatly contributes to the exceptional speed and sensitivity of WITec’s systems. Furthermore, WITec’s True Surface Microscopy has been selected as a winner of the prestigious 2011
R&D 100 Award. True Surface Microscopy allows confocal Raman imaging guided by surface topogra- phy.
