pire Corporation (NASDAQ: SPIR), a global solar company providing turn-key production lines to

manufacture photovoltaic (PV) modules has recei- ved a contract for a 12 megawatt (MW) PV semi- automated module manufacturing line from Rajast- han Electronics & Instruments Ltd. (REIL) located in Jaipur, India.

Little, Chairman and CEO of Spire Corpora- tion, stated, “We have worked with REIL and pro- vided them with PV manufacturing equipment over many years; we are pleased they have decided to ex- pand and once again rely on Spire for their new PV module manufacturing needs. This 12MW per year, semi-automated line will allow REIL to take more market share in the fast growing Indian market.”

emiconductor Research Corporation (SRC), the world‘s leading university-research consortium

for semiconductors and related technologies, and researchers from SEMATECH and The University of Texas at Dallas are the first to demonstrate that specific potentially hazardous organic contami- nants present in a type of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) can be easily removed.

This discovery should enable the continued consi- deration of SWNTs for advanced nanoelectronics manufacturing, as this material shows promise for continuing the benefits of scaling with significantly reduced risk to the environment. In addition to se- miconductor manufacturers, several other industries also could gain greater product effectiveness from this research.

The research team analyzed the potential risk of a variety of functionalized SWNTs, and found that one family of nanotubes, carboxylated single-walled carbon nanotubes (CSWNTs), reduced the ability of mammalian cells to grow in culture. This is considered to be evidence of toxicity. However, researchers also found that standard separati- on techniques could remove the contaminating material, indicating that the purified nanotubes
