Florals are a lovely summer style and this year is no exception with prints ranging from tiny buds to huge, overblown blossoms. Petsa Kaffens looks at the bright colours that are perfect for summer.
BOHO STYLE Channel the 70s with this sheer floral blouson top (a boon for disguising a full waist) with a gathered neckline (£25, 10-22) and flattering jeans with a slightly flared leg (£30, 10-26). Both from the SG Collection at BHS (you can also look for similar hats at John Lewis, Marks & Spencer, Matalan and Next).

With shoestring straps and a full 50s skirt, this vintage-look prom dress, by Monsoon, printed with yellow roses, is perfect for hot days (£85, 8-16).
FASHION
Floral prints are utterly feminine and certainly add a note of joy to dressing up, especially when it’s hot and sunny.
But, as with any pattern, be
careful not to overdo it as it can be visually confusing. Team your flower-print dress with a plain cardigan or pashmina (just in case you’re caught out by a slight sea breeze) in a complementary colour. Or try wearing a patterned top or T-shirt with a skirt, trousers or jeans if you don’t want to be too top-to-toe. Alternatively, go for flower power on the side by accessorising a white or bright summer outfit with a floral bag, jewellery or shoes as they will stand out more and make a fashion statement. Also, you can’t go wrong with a floppy straw hat – not only is it on trend but it also protects your skin and adds onboard glamour.
