Michelle Rooney, Kim O'Brien and Helen Littlewood.
Littlewood was a semi-finalist in 2009 while Rooney, third behind Thompson and Henriksen on the Ladies Tour, has reached at least the last 16 for the past three seasons.
Liesa Conlin also cued her way to the semis in 2010 but won't fondly remember a 7-0 white- wash by Thompson. The likes of World Masters champion Michelle Brown shouldn't be underestimated.
Brown also reached the semi- finals of the National Singles last year but went down against another Blackpool regular and eventual champion, Carly Smith.
Nicole Welsh is the highest ranked Australian and was a
Kim O’Brien
world quarter-finalist in 2008. Renata Delahunty is 16th seed and captains the Aussies this year, a side that includes: Tania McClure, Julie McEwan, Kolbe Poole, Nicole Fielding and Laura Jelly.
Sadly for the Aussies two of the top three players are unable to travel: 2010 National singles champion, Elise Mabbott and 2009 Australian champion, Margaret Gorski.
And the fewer genuine challengers the easier it will be for Thompson to chalk up title number 11. Tennis anyone?
