le But Effective

The homepage carries a simplistic design, but delivers the goods when it comes to telling the story of the business. The Facebook page is updated regularly.

cording to Carlos Ramirez. The latest shows the the company’s prowess with new technology, featuring Ap- ple iPad installs in vehicles. Awards and Certifications: Like they hang on the

wall, awards and certificates should hang on your Web site. Whether it’s MERA membership, MECP certifica- tion, local or BBB honors,

they are the equivalent of

a customer’s friend giving them a recommendation to visit your business. NVS Audio shows its stripes on the homepage.

Links to Other Online Presence: In addition to links being a handy way to go from a store’s Web site to its Facebook page, showing multiple presences on your homepage also delivers the impression that you are bigger than you are, more engaged with technol- ogy and—because you must be seen by hundreds of thousands of Web surfers—very knowledgeable and trusted. NVS’ homepage not only links to its content, but shows parts of it through widgets.

In talking with Ramirez, we found out that NVS Au- dio’s YouTube channel gives them the most return for

their time. Not only does it show new customers quickly and without question what the shop can do, it answers many of the questions they might have up front. He added that their YouTube videos help them to sell more because the consumers looking at their site can see how things really work and integrate into a vehicle. Ramirez said that the cost to upkeep the store’s Web presence is minimal and consists mostly of man hours. He estimated it takes six to eight hours a month to keep things updated. The original site and its linked Web sites have been up for the last seven years, and the shop has been involved in social media sites such as MySpace, Facebook and YouTube for the last four years. Although he delivers the same message to all the different sites, Ramirez values YouTube the highest. Take a cruide through the NVS Audio Web site and

you’ll find that it is very easy to use, with photos that show exactly how the components perform when in- stalled in a vehicle. For their efforts, Ramirez claims his shop has seen about a 25-percent increase in overall profit — not a bad return for a single day’s work once a month. ■
