ALEJANDRO SAINZ is the Co-Managing Partner, Chairman of the Insolvency & Restructurings Practice Group and Co-Chair of the Mergers & Acquisitions Practice Group of CERVANTES SAINZ, S.C. He represents national and multinational clients in a broad range of transactional matters, providing legal advice in the areas of corporate, finance and commercial law, including reorganizations, restructurings and work-outs, bankruptcy and cross-border insolvency procedures (concursos), corporate finance, mergers & acquisitions, foreign investment, joint ventures, and infrastructure, real estate, gaming and telecommunications transactions. Among other restructuring and insolvency matters, Mr. Sainz is currently representing (i) the adhoc committee of foreign second priority senior secured creditors in the new cross-border restructuring of the debt & equity of Satmex; (ii) Grupo Iusacell and Grupo Iusacell Celular in their cross-border restructuring of its debt (pre-packed Concurso Procedure); (iii) the ad-hoc committee of noteholders in the cross-border insolvency procedure of Controladora Comercial Mexicana (both pre-packed Concurso Procedure and Chapter 15 process); (iv) an important creditor in the bankruptcy procedure of the Mexican airline “Alma”; (v) certain creditors in the cross-border insolvency procedure of “Majapara”, a Mexican foreign exchange broker; (vi) the ad-hoc committee of unsecured senior noteholders in the cross-border restructuring procedure of Hipotecaria Su Casita; and (vii) certain important creditors in the Concurso Procedure of Compañia Mexicana de Aviación.
