Hôtel de Vendôme Paris


Hôtel de Vendôme is a jewel situated right in the heart of the most romantic city in the world, Paris. Located at 1, Place Vendôme, this five-star boutique luxury hotel is an elegant retreat with attentive service, fine cuisine and a discreet atmosphere in the centre of the most fashionable district in Paris.


Built in 1723, the private mansion that houses Hôtel de Vendôme, gives Place Vendôme its name as it is the site of the original Vendôme family’s residence. The building that houses Hôtel de Vendôme


became the Texan embassy from 1842 - 1907, when France was the only country in the world that recognized Texas as an independent country. Place Vendôme is the starting point of the Rue de


la Paix and its origin dates back to the 17th century when King Louis XIV, “the Sun King,” commissioned his chief architect, Jules Hardouin-Mansart, to design the octagonal Place des Conquêtes, which is today called the Place Vendôme. Frédéric Chopin (1810-1849) lived at number 12


Place Vendôme until his death in 1848 and César Ritz opened The Ritz Paris at number 15 Place Vendôme at the beginning of the 20th century.

Since 1718, the French Ministry of Justice is located at the 11-13 Place Vendôme. The Colonne Vendôme: the large column at the centre of Place Vendôme, replaced the equestrian statue of Louis XIV in 1806 and is made of cannon taken from the combined armies of Europe. It was erected by Napoleon to commemorate the French victory at the battle of Austerlitz. Twenty-nine luxuriously appointed guest rooms
