This year, the NNI introduced a new- category, Regional Press Ad of the Year, which was open to any ad that appeared in the pages of an NNI local or regional newspaper last year. The first winner of this category is


Bloom for its ‘Lost Laptop’ cam- paign for Fujifilm, which ran over a week in Metro Herald in February 2010. The campaign involved a series of


quarter page ads based around a character called Mark who had lost his laptop with all his wedding pho- tos on it. According to Bloom, the aim of the campaign was to “estab- lish the fact that one day it could be too late to move your prized snaps from laptop to picture frame”. “Our message needed to engage


rather than unnerve, to entertain rather than shock. We therefore devised a campaign to run in the Metro Herald that aimed to get peo- ple talking, tweeting, blogging, and, ultimately, dying to see the inevitable reveal.” Julian Borra said the campaign


was not a thing of beauty but was very clever and very refreshing. “It shows that somebody’s really think- ing about the medium, using the unique power of the newspaper environment to transform a simple sales message into a nice little story.”
