ocation-based check-in services like Foursquare and Yelp have been available in Ireland for the last year or so, but their use has mainly been confined to early adopters. Likewise, it has primarily been small businesses rather than big brands that have been experi- menting with the opportunities they bring for creating loyalty and driving footfall. This is all expected to change dramatically over the com- ing months, following the Irish launch of Facebook Places in February and the imminent arrival to these shores of Facebook Deals.
