NINTENDO takes the crown this week with Pokémon White Version. The game sold 13,000
more copies than Black Version, which came in second place.
It was the biggest ever UK launch weekend for the series, with Whitebecoming the second fastest selling DS title of all time – behind Professor Layton and Pandora’s Box.
The combined sales of both games makes the latest Pokémontitles Nintendo’s third biggest UK launch, bested only by Wii Fitand Mario Kart Wii.
EA took third and fourth place with new release Fight Night Championand last week’s No.2 Bulletstorm, which saw a 46 per cent drop in sales.
SONY rounds off the Top Five with Killzone 3, which fell from No.1 with a sales decline of 58 per cent.
Two more releases debuted in the Top 20. THQ came in at No.17 with Dawn of War II: Retribution, while MMORPG Rift– the first release from TRION WORLDS – reached 19th place.
Chart-Track reports that sales across all games in the Top 20 – excluding new releases – are down. Call of Duty: Black Opsfrom ACTIVISION suffered a 54 per cent sales decline and dropped from No.3 to No.6 – its lowest chart position to date.
Three of the individual format charts saw a new release at No.1: Pokémon White Version topped the DS chart, Fight Night Championtriumphed on Xbox 360 and Dawn of War II: Retribution stormed the PC chart.
