FOLLOWING the immense success of Nintendogson the original DS, Nintendo is going one step further and adding cats into the mix. To label Nintendogsa hit would be a huge understatement. Around 22m units of the game have been sold worldwide as children and pet fans lap up the adorable gameplay. Nintendogs + Catsallows players to look after their own pet pooch or feline friend – now in full 3D. There are three SKUs – Golden Retriever & New Friends, Toy Poodle & New Friends,and Bulldog & New Friends. Each version features nine different starter breeds (see ‘Cute SKUs’ for a full list) but gamers can unlock all 27 breeds in each game.
TOP OF THE PETS
The 3DS cameras allow the user’s in-game puppy to recognise their owner. The dogs can track head movements and will try to pop out of the 3D screen to lick the user. They can even be taught tricks via voice commands and the 3DS’ stylus. Unlike the dogs, cats will be less inclined to spend long with the gamer, who will need to work hard to form a bond with their kitten. Top owners will even be able to get their dog and cat to form a friendship.

Players can even dress up their pets using hundreds of decorations and accessories, while the in-game furniture can also be customised. Nintendogs + Catsalso features a pedometer, which means with the console in sleep mode gamers can literally take their pet for a walk.
Also, when gamers walk past
other Nintendogs + Cats owners, the wireless StreetPass function lets them to swap items and photos with others. Using the augmented reality cards that come bundled with the 3DS, players can also beam their pet into the real world.
