MEDIA WATCH: POKÉMON BLACK & WHITE

The buzz behind one of the biggest upcoming titles

“If you have never played Pokémon, get off your ass and get Black/White. Aside from a weaker line-up of monsters (largely an aesthetic complaint), this is the best Pokémonhas to offer on every level. It proves that the Pokémon series is still rock solid after a decade and a half.” Jack De Vries

12 March 11th 2010

“Pokémon Black & White is far from a series overhaul, and given how Pokémania has never really died out, it’s perhaps understandable that it isn’t. This could – and perhaps should – be the swansong to the Pokémon formula we’re used to, but if it is then it’ll go out at the very peak of its existence.” Ashton Raze

“Black/White, for the length of its excellent story mode, simply reminds us what we are nostalgic for: setting out into the wild grass with but one Pokémon to our name and catching ‘em all. Forget what people say, it turns out you don’t realise what you had until it returns. Welcome back.” Matthew Castle

“While die-hards might still prefer HeartGoldand SoulSilver, the fresh approach and impressive visuals, draped over a tried and true frame of addictive, highly nuanced battle and customisation, make Black/Whitethe defacto catch-all solution to monster collecting on DS.” Nameless Games Journo
