RECOMMENDED: MONKEY ISLAND/MOTOGP Tales of Monkey Island The hit series sets sail for UK retail for the first time in ten years. Lewis Tyler prepares for its return

THE ICONIC Monkey Island series is finally returning to UK shelves after more than a decade. Published by Lace Mamba Global, the boxed version of Tales of Monkey Islandbrings the previous download-only series to UK retail for the first time. In his ongoing battle with the evil undead pirate LeChuck, hapless pirate hero Guybrush Threepwood inadvertently frees his arch-enemy’s voodoo spirit. Fearing a zombie outbreak, Guybrush has no choice but to clean up the mess in his typically

slapstick fashion. Holding true to its point-and-click origins, the new Monkey Island’s gameplay

primarily revolves around puzzle solving. Talesalso honours the series’ comedy roots with a daft but twisting plot, excellent writing and fully voice-acted dialogue. The popularity of the 2009 digital version makes the series ripe for a retail release. Lace Mamba Globalhas also prepared a Collector’s Edition that features plenty of extras to keep fans happy. “There’s a huge demand for a boxed release of the Tales of Monkey Islandseries, as proven by strong pre-orders and very positive feedback,” says Claas Wolter, head of PR and marketing.

MotoGP 10/11

WITH MOTOGP retaining a loyal fanbase every year, Capcom is enhancing the series’ core features for the 10/11edition. The sport’s officially licensed game has faithful recreations of the bikes along with a complete roster including champions Lorenzo, Rossi and Stoner. Out of the box MotoGP 10/11is up-to-date with the last year, but DLC will fill the gap, updating the game to reflect the 2011 season. Dedicated fans can work through a comprehensive Career mode – now with split-screen co- op – while the more competitive gamers will no doubt enjoy the 20-player online mode. “MotoGPsales have been consistent throughout its three iterations under Capcom,” says UK product and community manager Karl Reader. “We have an extensive core of dedicated fans who have worked

alongside the development team to make 10/11as accessible as possible without detracting from the authenticity and realism that is the core of this year’s focus. “2011 will see a new approach to

the MotoGPmarketing campaign, focusing on PR, community and events. We have a strong grasp of our target market in these areas which ensures we gain maximum reach exposure.” The publisher will be running sampling opportunites at the British MotoGP and Formula One at Silverstone. Partnerships have also been secured with some of the sport’s biggest sponsers, Monster Energy and Tissot Watches. These deals include additional sampling at major events throughout Europe. MotoGP 10/11arrives on March 18th – just in time for the new MotoGP season, which starts on March 20th in Qatar.
