25 WEEKLY MARKET VALUE: £23.3m No. 1
The games market soared this week due to several strong new releases. The software market value rose 31.6 per cent week-on-week to £23.3m. Unit sales jumped 38.2 per cent to 1,132,637.

Sony’s Killzone 3on PS3 and EA’s multiformat title Bulletstormwere the top sales drivers this week. Killzone 3 made it to No.1 and Bulletstorm No.2 in the chart ahead of Black Ops.
No other new releases broke into the Top 40 this week although World of Warcraft: Battle Chestand Sega’s Sonic Coloursre- entered the charts at No.24 and No.31 respectively.
The biggest new games out today (Friday, March 4th) include Pokémon Blackand White, Fight Night Championand Rift. THQ also launches its Wii drawing accessory uDraw.

THE 3DS launched in Japan last week – and shipped 400,000 units in its opening weekend. Previous reports
suggest Nintendo will look to reach 1.5m sales by the end of March – part of a 4m global total for the period. The 3DS will arrive in Europe on March 25th and in the US on March 27th. Reflecting on the Japanese launch, a

Nintendo statement read: “NCL had made the shipments before day one so that Japanese retailers were in a position to sell little more than 400,000 units of the Nintendo 3DS hardware today.

GAME and Gamestation announced that hundreds of their stores will open at midnight to allow consumers to get their hands on the 3DS as soon as possible.
